Conrad Consulting is partnering with a leading consultancy supporting the delivery of a major portfolio of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects currently under construction across the UK.

Due to continued project growth, we are seeking experienced Senior Commercial Managers to join a high-performing commercial team overseeing the successful delivery of complex energy infrastructure projects.

The Opportunity

Working within a client-facing environment, you will provide commercial leadership across live construction projects, ensuring robust contract administration, commercial governance, and stakeholder management throughout the construction phase.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the UK’s energy transition while working on a nationally significant programme of renewable energy infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial and contractual management of BESS construction projects.
• Administer contracts and manage contractual obligations throughout project delivery.
• Oversee compensation events, change control, claims, and variations.
• Provide commercial reporting, forecasting, and cost management.
• Support project teams in mitigating commercial risk and maximising value.
• Engage with contractors, consultants, and client stakeholders.
• Provide strategic commercial advice and mentorship to junior team members.

Requirements

• 10+ years’ commercial management experience within construction or infrastructure environments.
• Proven experience delivering major infrastructure, energy, utilities, power, renewables, or BESS projects during construction.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC and/or FIDIC contracts.
• Demonstrable experience managing change, claims, compensation events, and commercial reporting.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience working within client, consultant, or contractor organisations.

Desirable

• Previous Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project experience.
• Experience within transmission, renewables, or wider energy infrastructure sectors.
