External Works Operative

Full Time 40 Hours per Week
Salary: Circa £30,900 per annum

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced External Works Operative to join a well-established social housing maintenance contractor. This role is ideal for a skilled tradesperson who takes pride in delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance, helping to keep homes safe, secure and well maintained.

The Role

The External Works Operative will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of external maintenance and repair works, including:

• Fencing repairs and installations
• Brickwork and minor masonry repairs
• Groundworks and external hard landscaping
• Roofing and roofline repairs
• Guttering, fascias and soffits
• Diagnosing repairs and identifying associated works
• Completing pre-inspections where required
• Recording completed works, materials and job information using a handheld device
• Maintaining high standards of health and safety at all times

Requirements

• Proven experience carrying out external repairs and maintenance within domestic properties, ideally in the social housing sector
• Strong skills in fencing, brickwork, roofing, roofline repairs, guttering and groundworks
• The ability to diagnose repair issues and identify effective solutions
• Experience working safely at height and using power tools and appropriate PPE
• The ability to manage their own workload and consistently deliver work to a high standard
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Confidence using handheld technology to record work and job information
• The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
• A full UK driving licence
• The ability to pass a basic DBS check
