Our client is a well-established machine hire and maintenance company, supplying specialist equipment and support services to construction projects across the UK. They are currently seeking an experienced Welder who is also happy to support general yard duties when required.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety in their role and takes pride in high-quality welding and hands-on work.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out essential welding repairs on piling equipment such as augers and buckets. When welding tasks are not required, the role will also involve general yard duties including equipment checks, loading/unloading, and general housekeeping.

Key Responsibilities

Welding & Fabrication:

• Perform MIG and/or stick welding on machine attachments and accessories

• Carry out hard-facing of augers and other high-wear components

• Repair digging buckets and structural steelwork

• Operate oxy-acetylene cutting and grinding tools

• Maintain a clean and organised welding area

Yard Support:

• Assist with pre-delivery checks and equipment organisation

• Help with loading and unloading of equipment and materials

• Maintain overall cleanliness and order of the yard

• Support with minor mechanical tasks where appropriate

• Work collaboratively with the yard team and fitters

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience in welding, ideally within a heavy plant or construction environment

• Comfortable with hard-facing and heavy-duty repair work

• Willing to get involved in non-welding tasks as required

• Forklift or telehandler experience (desirable but not essential)

• Reliable, hands-on and safety-conscious
