A Gateman on a construction site in the UK is responsible for controlling access to the site, ensuring safety and security. Here are the key responsibilities:

– Access Control: Manage the main site gate, verifying visitors and contractors have the correct induction and PPE.
– Delivery Management: Coordinate with site management to schedule and receive deliveries.
– Security Oversight: Monitor the perimeter to prevent unauthorized access and ensure the site is secure.
– Logistics Support: Assist with general site maintenance and keep the entrance area clear.
– Public Relations: Act as the face of the site, interacting with the public and local residents.
– Compliance: Ensure all gate activities follow health and safety requirements and the Traffic Management Plan.

Typical requirements include:
– Valid CSCS Card
– Traffic Marshall or Vehicle Banksman ticket (preferred)
– Full PPE (Hard Hat, High-Visibility Vest/Jacket, Steel Toe Boots)
– Previous on-site experience (minimum 3 years for some roles)
