Our client, a well-established builders merchant, is looking to recruit a friendly, motivated, and customer-focused Sales Assistant to join their branch team. This is a varied role involving both face-to-face customer service and telephone sales support.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service, assisting trade and retail customers and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the branch.
Salary: Up to £33,000 DOE Hours: Monday – Friday + Alternate Saturday mornings
Key Responsibilities
Greet and assist customers in branch in a professional and friendly manner
Handle customer enquiries and sales over the phone
Provide product advice and recommend suitable materials and solutions
Process sales orders, quotations, and payments accurately
Maintain strong product knowledge across building materials and supplies
Support stock control and merchandising within the branch
Assist with loading/unloading customer orders where required
Build positive relationships with new and existing customers
Work closely with colleagues to ensure excellent branch operations
Requirements
Previous experience in a customer service or sales role
Experience within a builders merchant or construction-related environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Confident dealing with customers both in person and over the phone
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
A positive attitude and willingness to learn
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
