Site Construction Manager

Location: Teesside, UK
Reports to: Head of Projects & Design
Hours: 40 hours per week (site-based)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Site Construction Manager to oversee the safe and successful delivery of mechanical and electrical construction projects. As a Site Construction Manager you will manage subcontractors, coordinate site activities and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day construction activities on site.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.
• Supervise subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
• Coordinate civil, mechanical and electrical installation activities.
• Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and all SHEQ requirements.
• Maintain site health, safety and environmental standards.
• Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks and safety inspections.
• Issue and manage Permit to Work (PTW) and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW).
• Monitor quality standards and inspect completed works.
• Verify compliance with approved designs, Quality Plans and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
• Liaise with engineering teams to resolve technical issues and design clashes.
• Coordinate site resources to maximise efficiency.
• Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs) as required.
• Manage temporary works in accordance with approved procedures.
• Maintain accurate site records and project documentation.
• Support the Project Manager in achieving commercial and programme objectives.

Skills & Experience

• ONC/OND, NVQ or City & Guilds Level 2 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• SMSTS, NEBOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
• Valid CSCS Card.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering mechanical and/or electrical construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations, SHEQ requirements and ISO quality standards.
• Experience managing subcontractors on live construction sites.
• Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor qualification (desirable).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• Commercial awareness with a focus on safe, efficient project delivery.
• Ability to work independently and build effective relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
