The Coded Welder is responsible for carrying out high-quality structural welding on offshore sheet piling works using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/Stick), processes. All welding shall be completed in accordance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), project requirements, and applicable industry standards while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Perform structural welding on structural steel, combi walls, waling beams, brackets, tie bars, capping beams, and associated structural steel components.
Carry out welding using Flux Core (FCAW), Stick (SMAW), and MIG (GMAW) processes as specified by the project.
Weld in accordance with approved WPS, engineering drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication specifications.
Maintain valid coded welder qualifications for the required welding processes and positions.
Ensure all welds meet project quality standards and successfully pass visual inspection and NDT where applicable.
Prepare, fit-up, clean, and inspect materials before, during, and after welding.
Operate welding equipment safely and carry out routine inspections and maintenance.
Work closely with supervisors, inspectors, and other trades to achieve programme targets.
Comply with offshore permit-to-work systems, toolbox talks, risk assessments, and method statements.
Maintain excellent housekeeping standards within the work area.
Report equipment defects, quality concerns, or safety hazards immediately.
Assist with fabrication and installation activities as required.
